ACTEWAGL
ACTEW AGL is a joint Private/Government owned organisation responsible for managing and delivering critical services to the nation’s capital, Actewagl provides ACT and surrounding regional areas with the managed services of:
- Water Infrastructure and Transportation;
- Electricity Generation Assets, and;
- Gas Infrastructure, Exploration.
ActewAGL is designated as a critical infrastructure services provider, part of this designation requires that the service partners of Actewagl are of the highest standard and that they deliver services at a prescribed standard and are managed and measured monthly against these agreed standards.
Southern Cross Protection has built a strong relationship over the last 3 years. Recently ActewAGL has extended the current services agreement between the 2 companies for another 2 years, this extension was granted as a direct result of SXP meeting and exceeding the required service and deliverables of ActewAGL.
Services include:
- Consistent and Random Patrols Services to over 37 sites including:
- Power Stations;
- Reservoirs;
- Water treatment Facilities;
- Works Depots;
- Management Facilities;
- Administration Facilities;
- Secure IT & Communications Centres;
- All Alarm Response Services;
- Casual and Static Guarding Services;
- Inter-Company Management between Security Service Providers;
- Daily reporting of incidents (where applicable) and Monthly reports, including regular service reviews;
- Site hazard identification and notification where applicable
At present, Southern Cross Protection, on complete a contracted 607 calls per week, not including alarm responses or ad-hoc work.

Southern Cross Protection is providing the full range of security services to Onesteel Recycling NSW branches, following being awarded the contract in November 2009. Onesteel is one of Australia’s largest integrated global steel and finished steel metal manufacturing and distribution organisations, operating across Australia, in the Asia Pacific and the United States. Southern Cross Protection’s end to end security service solution and implementation to Onesteel includes: Full security and risk assessments; Physical guarding at nominated sites and security patrol services at the other sites, depending on each site profile; Provision and maintenance of tailored electronic security surveillance and alarm systems; After hours Alarm System Monitoring with a National Operations Centre and a national monitoring centre; Armed hold up, certificate credited training for key nominated staff, providing practical industry best practice approach to direct security situations. Southern Cross understands that each client may have differing requirements and works within the clients’ structure and their desired outcomes. For Onesteel Recycling and their nine NSW branches, we have provided improved security and management outcomes, while delivering greater efficiency and cost savings.
