History
Although we have a new name - Southern Cross Protection - we have an enduring legacy. The business was founded after WW1 in Melbourne and then Sydney, to provide cost effective after hours night watchmen and security patrol services. During the 1950's, many ex-servicemen joined the ranks, and the company soon opened in every capital city and most major regional centres.
A new Head Office named "Watching House" was established in Melbourne and the company had thousands of local businesses to protect each night. During the 1990's the Australian Watching Company (Wormald Security) and Metropolitan Security Services (owned by Mayne Nickless Ltd) were purchased by Chubb.
After trading as Chubb for close to 20 years, the company divested and security patrols returned to being an Australian owned, private company- Southern Cross Protection.
